ENERGY STAR qualified products and practices help you save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. EPA and U.S. DOE. The ENERGY STAR label also designates superior energy performance in homes and buildings.
To earn the ENERGY STAR, a home must meet guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These homes are at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC), and include additional energy-saving features that typically make them 20-30% more efficient than standard homes.
ENERGY STAR qualified homes can include a variety of 'tried-and-true' energy-efficient features that contribute to improved home quality and homeowner comfort, and to lower energy demand and reduced air pollution. These features include:
Weese Homes offers a number of insulation options including our favorite, sprayed cellulose insulation, which provides superior insulative values and is far more protective against air penentration than traditional fiberglass batts. We also provide a complete air sealing on every home by certified energy consultant to ensure that we are providing a top quality insulated home.
We are proud to use Andersen Windows, the most recognizable name in windows in the world. In every home we build, we provide Andersen windows with their High Performance/Low-E glass.
Every home we build gets the custom foam seal treatment where pipe and wire penetrations, sill plates, framing corners and any other building envelope penetrations. Additionally, all of our ENERGY STAR labeled homes receive a custom duct sealing to significantly reduce air loss from the HVAC system.
Every ENERGY STAR labeled home we build features an ENERGY STAR rated heat pump system with environmentally friendly R-410A refrigerant. We also offer Geo-thermal heating systems for those who seek the ultimate in energy efficient heating.
There are more and more ENERGY STAR qualified products entering the market every day. We are please to offer some of the best including GE appliances, Rinnai tankless hotwater heaters, and Seagull lighting fixtures with compact flourescent bulbs.
With the help of an independent Home Energy Raters, we work to ensure that every ENERGY STAR labeled home we build will meet the strict criteria before we even begin construction. Once the plan is in place and we have begun construction, the ENERGY STAR Home Energy rater will conduct onsite testing and inspections to verify the energy efficiency measures, as well as insulation, air tightness, and duct sealing details.
Every ENERGY STAR labeled home is unique because every building envelope is unique. For that reason, the features that are necessary to have your home qualify for ENERGY STAR may vary from model to model. If you are interested in a particular model, and would like to be ENERGY STAR labeled, we invite you to speak with us about the features required for doing so.
More information about ENERGY STAR is available at www.energystar.gov and in a series of articles that we have posted on our blog entitled "What Makes A Home ENERGY STAR".
We rarely build our stock plans exactly as they're shown. We encourage customers to customize any plan to suit their needs. Have your dream plan already picked out? Just bring us the plans. We also offer drafting services to make modifications easy and convenient.
